{1 Corinthians 13}

¹ ”If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. ² If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. ³ If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

⁴ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ⁵ It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. ⁶ Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. ⁷ It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

⁸ Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. ⁹ For we know in part and we prophesy in part, ¹⁰ but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. ¹¹ When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. ¹² For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

¹³ And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

“Comfort for God’s People 
Comfort, comfort my people, 
says your God. 
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, 
and proclaim to her 
that her hard service has been completed, 
that her sin has been paid for, 
that she has received from the LORD’s hand 
double for all her sins.

A voice of one calling: 
“In the desert prepare 
the way for the LORD ; 
make straight in the wilderness 
a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be raised up, 
every mountain and hill made low; 
the rough ground shall become level, 
the rugged places a plain.

And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, 
and all mankind together will see it. 
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

A voice says, “Cry out.” 
And I said, “What shall I cry?” 
“All men are like grass, 
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, 
because the breath of the LORD blows on them. 
Surely the people are grass.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, 
but the word of our God stands forever.”

You who bring good tidings to Zion, 
go up on a high mountain. 
You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem,
lift up your voice with a shout, 
lift it up, do not be afraid; 
say to the towns of Judah, 
“Here is your God!”

See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, 
and his arm rules for him. 
See, his reward is with him, 
and his recompense accompanies him.

He tends his flock like a shepherd: 
He gathers the lambs in his arms 
and carries them close to his heart; 
he gently leads those that have young.”

2012 is a new year…for new possibilities and accomplishments…new relationships and friends. Almost as if we can be start anew as white as milk and sweet as honey, without any tainted ailments. Sometimes, 2011′s sad happenstances like to rear up again, even 2010′s, but it’s pertinent that we keep looking forward to what God’s so lovingly holding for us, even as he so tenderly holds us in His Mighty Hands.

“A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.” Proverbs 16:28
